About Your Practitioner
Melissa started her journey with Reiki in September 2014 and worked her way up to Karuna Reiki® in April 2017. Karuna Reiki® is the highest rank without formally teaching the practice. Her goal is to help people with emotional, mental, physical, and/or spiritual pain or discomfort.
Melissa opened her business in North Haven April 2017, where she shares an office with a licensed massage therapist. In October 2018, she also secured space in Jewett City to be able to assist others in their healing. (Due to the Coronavirus and businesses on mandatory shut down, Melissa no longer has space in North Haven.)
Melissa is not actively practicing in the Jewett Citty location. However, she has been sending reiki remotely to clients since the pandemic.
Outside of work, Melissa can be found in nature, walking the beach or hiking. Melissa loves sending reiki to wild and domestic animals. She also works with the angels and calls upon them during reiki session. Melissa is a paranormal investigator with the Eastern CT Paranormal Society.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a safe and natural method of spiritual healing and self-improvement for everyone!
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So, Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." www.reiki.org
The word "Karuna" is translated to mean any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others and could be translated as "compassionate action." The human body is made up of the mind, body, and spirit. All three must be in working order, so that a free flow of energy is achieved.

What should I expect from my first Reiki session?
Clients have reported to me many different experiences for their first healing session. Some have seen colors, shapes, felt heat; most of all clients have told me how relaxed they feel.
Please do not worry about what you may or may not feel or see; honestly just relax and trust the process.
How should I prepare for my first session?
Best way to prepare is to just relax and let go. Try to refrain from any caffeine at least one hour prior to your appointment. This is only to ensure a relaxed session.
Think about an intention. What are you hoping to achieve? Your intentions do not have to be made to me, as long as you are aware.

Pricing and Policies
REIKI
Reiki works on many levels; emotional, mental, physical, spiritual and cellular.
45-minute healing session $55.00 (30 minutes of healing and then 15 minutes to discuss the healing session.)
75-minute healing session $95.00 (60 minutes of healing and then 15 minutes to discuss the healing session.)
Long distance healing is always available too. As a reiki practitioner, I am able to send healing energies to you through a long-distance reiki symbol; no matter where you are in the world. I request a recent photo of the person I am working on so that I may connect easily. I have a vivid imagination and can envision myself standing next to you while working on your head, torso, arms, legs and feet.
Long distance reiki sessions have the same benefits as in person, whether relaxation, clarity, some even say, "The migraine has subsided!" Rates are the same as in office reiki session. Payment is made prior to the session.
How would you like to keep $10.00 in your pocket? It is very simple. As a client, you can refer me to a friend, family member, or co-worker about my services, have them book a sixty-minute healing session and once they have had their session, your next sixty-minute healing session is $10.00 off!! (Not to be combined with any other discounts or offers.)
All clients are asked to arrive 10 - 15 minutes early to their appointment. (Both existing and new clients.) This gives us time to fill out paperwork, discuss what you want me to focus on, and start on time as other clients may be scheduled after you. Please know, if you arrive late to your appointment, your session will not be extended.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Please respect a 24-hour cancellation notice, as I am reserving a time slot specifically for you. If cancelled inside the 24-hour time frame of your scheduled appointment, a fee of $35.00 is expected to be paid. No future bookings are permitted until payment is rendered.
NO SHOW POLICY
No show means an appointment has been made and client does not call to cancel nor show for said appointment. If this happens, full rate of session is expected. For example, if a 30-minute session was scheduled, the no show fee is $55.00. If a 60-minute session was scheduled, the no show fee is $95.00. No future bookings are permitted until payment is rendered.
